When hire is the right booking

Book hire when the musical direction is already yours. Your producer is coming. Your session is built. You need monitors you can trust, a vocal microphone, a quiet live room, and a desk that will not embarrass the take. Book recording or production when you want SN7 to run the session.

Both are available. The mistake is booking a dry hire and then expecting an engineer to produce the song unpaid, or booking a full production day when you only needed the room for three hours of vocals. The first message should say which one you mean.

What is in the rooms

The control room has studio monitors, a Universal Audio interface, a MIDI keyboard, and the desk you see in the photographs. The live room has a drum kit, bass, acoustic guitar, percussion, and a vocal position with a reflection filter. A separate lit set is used for picture. If your hire needs the video set as well as the audio rooms, say so. They are not assumed to be the same booking.

Access to instruments, the vocal chain, and outboard is confirmed in the quote. You will not be handed a price that hides a second invoice for the microphone.

House rules that keep the day clean

• The booking starts when the room is yours, so arrive ready, not hungry to set up from zero unless that time was included.
• Food and drink stay off the desk and off the instruments.
• The session is saved and handed over before you leave. Do not assume a drive will be posted a week later unless we agreed that.
• Overtime is asked for before the hour, not taken at the door.
